SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES

Small Christian Communities (SCC) are groups of eight to twelve people who gather in homes each week to deepen and support each other's faith. There are four components to Small Christian Communities: Learning and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Christian Community, Prayer, and Service. Participants come together to explore a variety of ways to connect their faith with daily life experiences. Faith and friendship grow through ongoing support and encouragement of each other. Learning to pray for each other, the needs of our local, national and global communities and learning new ways to worship God are central to a small group. Through service they reach beyond their own small circle and witness to the world the good news of Jesus Christ. For more information contact the parish offices, 660-582-3833. Mission Statement:
The Small Christian Communities of St. Gregory's Parish encourage and foster the building of small faith communities within the parish. The core of these communities is the Word of God. Through prayer, sharing of faith, and care for each other, these communities nurture the spiritual life of the parish family. In response to God's Word and action in their lives, these communities reach out in service to the people of God.

Small Christian Community Core Team:
The Small Christian Community Core Team meets the first Saturday of the month at 7:30 a.m. in the Office Meeting Room. This group is composed of members of Small Christian Communities in the Parish. This group's functions are to support and encourage the parish SCC Groups and to develop an overall vision of Small Christian Communities in the Parish. They search out and provide resources and training to the SCC Groups in the parish. If you would like to join this team, contact the Parish Offices, 660-582-3833.

National Support of Small Christian Communities:  (Buena Vista)
A national group called “Buena Vista” has been very instrumental in helping begin and support SCC groups in our parish. They are based out of Denver but exist in many areas of the nation and throughout the world. Check out their website for more information at http://www.buenavista.org or subscribe to their newsletter called “INK” for excellent resources and help in forming and supporting small groups.
