Liturgy
 

The Art and Environment Committee works in collaboration with the Liturgy Committee to plan and decorate for the liturgical seasons of the Church year, and special liturgical celebrations in the parish.

The Liturgy Committee plans and provides for the spiritual development of each member of the parish through liturgical celebrations and prayer experiences. This committee also oversees the various liturgical ministries of the parish.

Liturgical Ministries:

Choir:
Choir is for parishioners, 9th grade through adult, who have a desire to sing and lead music in worship in a group setting. Choir members must also be willing to practice and sing regularly at Mass (September through June). Rehearsal dates and times are published in the parish bulletin. Interested choir members are asked to contact the parish office at 660-582-3833.

Guitar Group:
The Newman Center Singers are part of the Newman Catholic Center of Northwest Missouri State University. They lead the congregation in song at the 11:00 a.m. Mass while Northwest Missouri State University is in regular session.

Servers:
Boys and girls in the Third Grade through High School may serve Sunday masses. Third through eighth grade St. Gregory's School students serve the weekday Mass during the week. There are no regular meetings, but the boys and girls must finish training to prepare to serve. The servers have a rotating schedule.

Song Leader Program:
A song leader leads the congregational singing during the Mass. The song leader encourages the congregation's full participation in the music. Song leaders may work individually or in a group. Interested persons are asked to contact the parish office, 660-582-3833.

Eucharistic Ministers:
Eucharistic Ministers serve St. Gregory's Parish by helping the Priest distribute Communion to the congregation during the Liturgies. Eucharistic Ministers are scheduled on a rotating basis at each of the weekend Liturgies throughout the year.

Eucharistic Ministers also serve the parish by taking Communion to parishioners who are sick and homebound or in area Nursing Homes.

Lectors:
Lectors serve St. Gregory's Parish by proclaiming the scripture readings at the Liturgies on weekends and most weekdays. Lectors are scheduled for the weekend Liturgies on a rotating basis throughout the year.

Greeters:
Greeters serve St. Gregory's Parish as ministers of hospitality, greeting and welcoming people as they arrive for the weekend Liturgies. Their ministry is one of helping parishioners and visitors feel at home at St. Gregory's. They are scheduled to serve for a month at a mass of their preference. Anyone is welcome to join this group. Contact the parish office if you would like to serve as a Greeter (660-582-3833).

Ushers:
Ushers also are ministers of hospitality for the weekend liturgies. Some of their duties include the following: seating the congregation, collecting the offering, setting up reserved seating, counting the number of people in attendance, assisting in emergencies, distributing the bulletin and Catholic Key and other materials as needed, and coordinating the gifts to the altar.

Leaders of Prayer: Leaders of Prayer: These people have taken Diocesan training to help lead parish prayer sessions, wakes, devotions or lead prayer in the absence of a priest.
