Confirmation
is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us
more deeply in the divine relationship, incorporate us more firmly
into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more
closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian
faith in words accompanied by deeds. (CCC 1316)
By the sacrament of Confirmation the individual is more perfectly
bound to the Church and enriched with a special strength of the
Holy Spirit. By Confirmation Christians share more completely with
the mission of Jesus Christ and the fullness of the Holy Spirit
with which he is filled. (CCC 1285,1294)
YOUTH: Every baptized person can and should receive the sacrament
of Confirmation. This sacrament is so closely united to Baptism
and the Eucharist that "the faithful are obliged to receive
this sacrament at the appropriate time." While the usual age
for Confirmation comes after the "age of discretion,"
any priest can confirm a child (even an infant) who is in danger
of death. (CCC 1306, 1307)
Confirmation is offered every year. Students who request this Sacrament
are prepared through a special program offered through our religious
formation classes. For more information please contact Kathy Howell
at 660-582-5914.
ADULTS: Adults wishing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation
are prepared separately. For more information please contact Sr.
Rose Hacker at 660-582-5914.
